On July 12th, multi-disciplinary engineering firm adi Group hosted a charity football tournament to raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, helping support children in care and their families.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital is a specialist paediatric centre providing advanced treatments, complex surgical procedures and cutting-edge research to more than 90,000 children and young people from all over the UK every year.
An exceptional £8,500 was raised through the event, hosted at Goals Birmingham Star City, with adi Group’s own donation bringing the overall total to £12,000.
The 24 teams that took part in the event comprised a number of adi Group employees as well as suppliers, family friends, fellow supporters of Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, the hospital itself, Boldmere football club, the Goals team and clients.
Commenting on the positive outcome of the event, Suzanne Burton, Business Systems Director, said: “It was as amazing effort from everyone involved – it was wonderful to see so many dedicated individuals coming together to support such an important cause.
“We're thankful to everyone who participated, whether to play or support the players, as well as everyone who donated. I’m looking forward to hosting the event again next year, and making it even bigger and better.”

Having selected Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital Charity as its charity of the year, adi Group is committed to supporting the charity through an extensive calendar of events, with its involvement spanning different areas.
As part of this, adi Group employees participate in annual events such as the Dragon Boat race and the Aberdovey Bike Ride to help raise money for the organisation, as well as doing their part to support the hospital in other ways such as garden cleaning and other dedicated volunteer days.
Recently, the business was recognised in Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital Charity’s 100 Heroes event, an annual celebration celebrating supporters that have gone above and beyond to support the charity.
Last year, CEO Alan Lusty purchased a sensory pod the hospital had on hire, allowing the hospital to continue to use what is an essential piece of equipment for children visiting the hospital, helping reduce stress and anxiety and overall improving their experience.
Commenting on the business’ ongoing commitment to the charity, Alan said: “We are proud to be able to support Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital Charity on such an extensive level. The work they do every day to improve the quality of life of children in care is nothing short of exceptional.
“Raising money through events such as the football tournament doesn’t just help the hospital on a financial level, it also allows them to continue to provide a high quality of care for its young patients. We look forward to continuing to play a role in supporting them in years to come.”
