adi Group, will be helping hearts in the Midlands by hosting a charity football tournament next month.

Twelve teams will battle it out in the six-a-side charity match at 7pm on Tuesday 7 June at Aston University, Birmingham, to raise funds for Heart Research UK in the Midlands.

The Midlands engineering group chose Heart Research UK as its charity partner for 2016 and has already raised nearly £6,000 thanks to the support of its CEO, Mr Alan Lusty and 500 dedicated members of staff.

The event fundraising target is £2,500 with teams from adi Group Ltd, corporate firms Cundall, Capita Symonds, Faithful & Gould, Reed Global, KPMG, UHY Hacker Young, Deutsche Bank, FM Network and friends of the company Hardly Athletic and Xavi Dodgers all participating.

All money raised at the event will be spent locally to support research projects in the West Midlands. Over £500,000 has been spent in the region over the last 10 years to help people live healthier, happier and longer lives.

A new project has begun at Birmingham Children’s Hospital with a £46,900 grant from Heart Research UK to look into helping young heart patients who were born with a single heart ventricle to do more exercise. Find out about the projects that Heart Research UK is currently funding here.

Mr Alan Lusty, adi Group Founder and CEO, said:

“The last 25 years have been a real journey, and being able to celebrate the group’s success with a 500 strong team of employees is incredible.

“adi has always made giving back to the community a priority, so it seemed only fitting to make fundraising a central part of our annual activities. Heart Research UK is a fantastic charity, and I’m proud that we are using this football event to continue our support for its aims.”

John Lloyd, Midlands Regional Manager at Heart Research UK, adds:

“We are so grateful that adi Group has chosen to support Heart Research UK as its charity partner. Not only will they be helping us to fund our pioneering research, employees will also be able have lots of fun taking part in the football tournament – and football is a great exercise for the heart.”

Supporters are welcome to come along on the evening to volunteer in the events fundraising activities or to cheer teams on as they battle it out for the winner’s title.
