Birmingham-based engineering firm, adi Group, is celebrating after raising more than £2,000 in donations for Heart Research UK in an annual football fundraising tournament.
A team of six employees battled it out on the football field with 11 other local businesses to raise money for the charity, which funds pioneering medical research into the prevention, treatment and cure of heart disease.
Despite placing 10th on the leader-board, the team is said to be very proud of their efforts, which resulted in a total of £2,187 being raised for Heart Research UK in the Midlands.
The winning side was Team EG who defeated Birmingham Citadel in a thrilling final penalty shootout which saw Arran Manu from Team EG claim the accolade of player of the tournament.
Other teams that took part included MWA Technology, Xavi Dodgers, Deutsche Bank, Faithful + Gould, Birmingham Citadel, Capita, UHY Hacker Young, Progressive Recruitment, Team Support Midlands and Sheridan Maine.
The tournament was part of an ongoing fundraising effort on behalf of Heart Research UK, which has been adi Groups charity partner since 2016. Through a combination of sports competitions, bake-offs, own-clothes days, and tuck shop donations, more than £11,000 has been raised for the charity during this period.
As hosts, adi Group was responsible for managing the entire event end-to-end, from sourcing sponsors, to booking the pitches and inviting other companies to take part. Representatives from Heart Research UK also attended on the day to provide additional support.
Event organiser, adi Groups Craig Mulligan, commented: It was fantastic to have so many teams, volunteers and supporters at our fourth annual tournament.
Heart Research is an exceptional organisation and we are pleased to be doing our part to support them. Were extremely proud of the partnership we have with them, which gives us the opportunity to help hearts in the Midlands while also reminding ourselves to think about our own health and wellbeing.

We are grateful to the adi Group for their ongoing support. The money raised will be spent locally, and we have funded a number of research projects at hospitals in Birmingham, including Birmingham Childrens Hospital.
