A director at Birmingham-based engineering company adi Group has joined the board of directors at the Midlands Aerospace Alliance (MAA).
James Sopwith, who is group marketing and strategic account director at adi, has 25 years' experience in the engineering industry.
He said: "Im delighted to have been elected to the board of directors of the MAA. Adi Group has extensive experience across a wide variety of sectors including long-standing business partnerships within the aerospace industry.
"I plan to use this cross-sector knowledge and apply it to MAA member companies to boost productivity, skills and innovation."
MMA is the second largest regional aerospace alliance in the world, second only to France's Aerospace Valley.
Its chief executive Dr Andrew Mair added: "Directors are appointed to ensure that a variety of expert perspectives from across the Midlands aerospace cluster are brought to bear on board decision-making.
"We believe James and adi Group as a whole can bring real value to our organisation, and the board looks forward to benefitting from Jamess extensive experience and leadership."
