Businesses “can be reluctant to shout about what they’ve achieved” according to the Group Strategic Account Director at adi Group. In-line with the launch of the Birmingham Business Excellence Awards, the multi-disciplinary engineering firm has spoken out about its involvement as Headline Sponsors and praised the event for its unique opportunities.

adi Group opened its HQ in Birmingham’s Kings Norton in 1990 and continues to diversify and expand its offering with 17 limited companies and 30 specialist divisions currently under its umbrella. It is their long-rooted relationship with the city that James Sopwith, the Group Strategic Account Director, identifies as the reasoning behind their sponsorship.

“adi Group decided to become Headline Sponsors as Birmingham has been a central point in the history of our business,” he said. “We’ve operated here for nearly three decades in various sized facilities and firmly class it as our home. Many of our first engineering projects were for some of Birmingham’s most iconic businesses so it’s great to now be in a position to give something back to the region that has grown with adi Group.”

Welcoming significant names such as the adi Group to the business awards’ roster is something organisers are continually striving to do. The awards are reminder of the comradery that thrives among the local business community, and Mr Sopwith highlighted the importance of businesses supporting one another in this way. “Very often businesses can be reluctant to shout about what they’ve achieved,” he said. “Events like the Birmingham Business Excellence Awards help to recognise the unsung heroes in the region that are going the extra mile.”

adi Group is certainly no stranger to winning awards having picked up many for themselves over the years. Back in March this year, the group achieved Best Companies 1* accreditation in the Sunday Times’ Best Company programme for the second year consecutively. An achievement which recognised adi Group for its outstanding levels of employee engagement, Mr Sopwith sees first-hand the benefits award shortlisting can bring to any workforce. “The benefits are countless,” he commented. “We have been lucky enough to have experienced a few events like this and would say the biggest benefit to being shortlisted would be the impact it has on the workforce.”

“The buzz amongst employees from such recognition is priceless. We have seen first-hand what it means to the workforce learning that the projects they’ve worked on or the initiative they were part of have been recognised externally.”
