Leading midlands engineering firm adi Group is playing its part in building best practice in manufacturing at a first-of-its-kind virtual exhibition.

The move follows a signed letter by adi CEO Alan Lusty in June in which more than 200 leading UK businesses called on the Government to deliver a resilient and green Covid-19 recovery plan.

Backing Britain, a two-week festival by the Made in Group, was originally set to take place this week at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena before the current pandemic disrupted plans.

Now, patrons of the Made in business community, such as adi Group, have shown their support by exhibiting among 160 of Britain’s brightest manufacturers, including Jaguar Land Rover, Siemens and Atlas Copco.

The virtual event, in which users can navigate stands, watch talks and network online, was one not to miss for adi CEO Alan Lusty, who said:

“Its important that businesses like us continue to highlight what makes Britain great. With UK manufacturing important all over the world, we can only hope to sustain our economies by backing industrial production with significant drive, cohesion and community spirit in times of great need.

“In June, I along with some of the UK’s biggest businesses and investors called on the Government to provide a clear vision for recovery efforts. While that is underway, I hope that operations such as these among the business community can provide some cohesion and confidence that the UK and manufacturers across the world can bounce back stronger than before.”

The adi Group has been busy throughout the coronavirus pandemic, supporting key industries such as food processing and pharmaceutical production as they bid to keep up with demand amidst social distancing operations.

Most recently, it announced an £8m+ collaboration with innovative energy solutions provider Onsite Energy Projects, which will transform the carbon footprint and cost base of a major Merseyside automotive manufacturer.

And its efforts in skills development and sustainability will also continue to extend out to apprenticeships, with 12 new recruits set to formulate part of is unique pre-apprenticeship scheme this year.

“As a Patron of Made in the Midlands, the adi Group demonstrates our commitment to actively promoting engineering for the future,” added James Sopwith, adi Group strategic account director.

“With considerable investment in both our pre-apprentice and apprenticeship schemes, this virtual Expo gives us an additional opportunity to talk about the engineers of tomorrow, as well as promote the engineering services we provide today.”

The Made in Group is offering free tickets to the entire UK manufacturing industry as part of a two week-long, virtual event targeting around 5,000 delegates.

With keynote speeches from industry leaders such as Dr Andy Palmer, former CEO of Aston Martin and Andrew Boothroyd, Head of Logistics at Mclaren F1, the event is being labelled as unmissable for anyone interested in the best of UK manufacturing.
